Mechanical Design Engineer

Mr. Johnson was responsible for the design and selection of bulk material handling equipment for coal terminals and ore storage facilities. Responsibilities included selecting vendors and solving shop fabrication problems. Equipment included belt conveyors, hoppers, vibrating feeders, ship loaders, junctions houses, crushers, scales, etc.

Mechanical Design Engineer

Mr. Johnson's duties included the layout and preparation of detail mechanical and structural design drawings for the fabrication and installation of belt conveyors and bulk handling systems. These systems handled coal, lime, grain, and ore at terminals and aboard self-unloading vessels. Designs were prepared for automatic weigh scale systems, storage bins, boom conveyors, trippers, screw conveyors, etc.

Responsible for the mechanical design and development of new products for storing, feeding, and automatic weighing of bulk materials for the rubber, feed, grain, glass, chemical, fertilizer, and confectionery industries. Responsible for vendor selection and approval of purchasing requisitions. Responsible for hiring and supervising three engineers and five member erection/assembly department. Supported the sales department with estimates and proposals for new inquires.

HOWE RICHARDSON SCALE COMPANY 1949 - 1968
Project Engineer

Responsible for preparing installation and shop fabrication drawings for automatic weighing and bulk material handling systems. Equipment included weigh hoppers, lever scale mechanisms, screw conveyors, air operated discharge gates, chutes, etc.
Applications Engineer
Responsibilities included equipment selection, pricing, and technical proposals in support of the sales department. Supervised two draftsmen preparing proposal drawings.
Manager of Industrial Engineering
Prepared tool design and manufacturing procedures to solve manufacturing problems and reduce production costs.
